Monitoring and control of the longitudinal displacement with SPIC International (April 2021-July 2022) :
The 600 m long bridge over Oued Menar consisting of 11 spans between 40 and 60 m, is located in the far north of Wilaya Mila on RN77 and connects Wilaya Setif with Wilaya Jijel.
Picture 01: Bridge Oued Menar: plan view
The bridge ensures the crossing of the river over a dangerous and very slippery terrain. This requires an adequate monitoring system to perceive every millimetre of movement, especially in view of the planned height of the pillars, which lies between 11 and 73 metres.
Picture 02: Bridge Oued Menar
The bridge is being built using the technique of successive longitudinal displacement of 30 m long tubbings and a 40 m long steel bridgehead. It is shifted on 11 pillars in the form of pre-stressed reinforced concrete box sections with grid dimensions of 3.5 m by 6.6 m. The pillars rest on shafts with a depth of 15 to 28 metres and a diameter of 8.50 to 10 metres.
The abutments, on the other hand, are deeply founded and each rest on 6 drilled piles with a diameter of 1.20 metres.
